An Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State has confirmed the Coventry City Centre South Compulsory Purchase Order. The Order enables the assembly of land interests to deliver a mixed-use redevelopment of c. 6 hectares of Coventry’s city centre, including new commercial uses together with c. 1,500 homes. The scheme is supported by grant funding from the West Midlands Combined Authority.
The Inspector found that the scheme underpinning the CPO was wholly in accordance with the development plan, and that the economic benefits of the scheme would be “transformational”. The decision letter is available here.
Richard Turney and Rebecca Sage promoted the CPO on behalf of the City Council.
Nicholas Taggart advised the City Council on property matters.
Neil Cameron KC acted for Royal London Mutual Insurance Society Ltd, whose objection was settled on the first day of the Inquiry.
