The Secretary of State has dismissed Dory Ventures Ltd’s proposal to redevelop Fulham Town Hall. The proposals comprised the retention and refurbishment of the Fulham Town Hall building with redevelopment behind, to provide 18 residential units (Use Class C3), flexible retail uses (Use Class A1-A3) and community uses (Use Class D1). The proposals were refused by Hammersmith & Fulham LBC on the basis that (inter alia) the scheme would cause significant harm to the significance of the building as a heritage asset. The Council took advice on this issue from Heritage England, who also appeared at the Inquiry in support of the Council’s position. Robert Walton acted for Heritage England.
