The Court of Appeal has today (14.1.20), granted permission to appeal in Jarvis v Evans. The question is whether a landlord who is not registered under Part 1, Housing (Wales) Act 2014 (Rentsmart Wales) is prohibited from serving a notice seeking possession under s.8, Housing Act 1988. The Circuit Judge held that an unregistered landlord was prohibited from seeking possession. Justin Bates and Kim Ziya act for the landlord, instructed by Anthony Gold solicitors.
