Mentoring scheme for aspiring planning and environmental barristers

Ms2

In 2021, Landmark Chambers and four other planning, property and public law sets (Cornerstone Chambers, Field Court Chambers, Francis Taylor Building and Kings Chambers), set up a mentoring scheme for underrepresented groups at the Bar. We are delighted to confirm that the scheme will run for a second year and that Falcon Chambers has also joined the scheme, which is supported by the Planning and Environment Bar Association. The scheme is intended to encourage undergraduates and postgraduates from groups that are not well represented at the Bar to consider becoming barristers. These underrepresented groups include women, people from minority ethnic backgrounds and people from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds. The Bar should be open to all who have the requisite ability.  We hope that the mentoring scheme will help talented individuals who might not think the Bar is for them, to understand what the Bar has to offer, how to become a barrister and to assist in the application process. The scheme will run from October 2022 to June 2023.  Successful applicants will be offered one-to-one meetings with a mentor, a workshop on applications for pupillage and one or more social events with mentors and other mentees. How to apply: Please click here to view the guidelines for applicants. Please click here to download the application form.  Please complete this and return by email to: nwhitefoy@landmarkchambers.co.uk, by midday on 7 October 2022. Successful applicants will be notified by e-mail by 28 October 2022.
