Secretary of State grants Planning Permission for 165 houses in Turnden

2017 03 02

Today Matthew Pennycook MP, on behalf of the Secretary of State for Housing Communities and Local Government, has granted permission to Berkley Homes for 165 houses in Turnden, Kent. This follows an inquiry into the called-in application in 2021 and the controversial decision by the then-Government to refuse permission in 2023. That refusal was quashed by consent in the High Court in October 2023.

James Maurici KC and Nick Grant have acted for Berkeley Homes throughout the inquiry, the High Court proceedings, the Local Plan examination process and also redetermination of the call-in, instructed by Claire Dutch and Olivia Barton at Ashurst LLP.

Andrew Byass appeared at the inquiry for Natural England.
