Landmark barrister Nic Taggart, a member of the Law Society’s Conveyancing and Land Law Committee, was quoted in a Sunday Times article on 1st August 2021. The article examined how clean the buyer of residential premises is entitled to find them when they move in. As Nic explained to journalist Catherine Baksi, the standard terms on which a residential property is sold states that the premises must be handed over free from people, undisclosed property interests and such chattels as would impede the reasonable use of the premises, but that there is no standard contractual requirement to leave the premises clean.
