Supreme Court grants permission to appeal in local authority voting case

R(Spitalfields Historic Building Trust) v London Borough of Tower Hamlets & Old Truman Brewery Ltd

The Supreme Court has granted permission to the Claimant to appeal against the Court of Appeal’s dismissal of its claim. The hearing will take place later this year. The case concerns the lawfulness of Standing Orders preventing Planning Committee members from voting on a planning application if they were not present when the application was previously considered by the Committee.
