The Cranston Inquiry began today, Monday 3 March 2025. The Inquiry has been set up to look into the events of 24 November 2021, when at least 27 people lost their lives crossing the Channel in a small boat.
David Blundell KC, Harriet Wakeman and Claudia Hyde are representing the Department for Transport (with Myles Grandison, Temple Garden Chambers).
The hearings are expected to last for four weeks. On the first day of the hearings, David Blundell KC delivered an opening statement on behalf of the Department for Transport.
