Landmark Chambers welcomes two new tenants today (Monday 2 October 2023) as Sophie Gibson (2022) and Edward Arash Abedian (2022) become members of Chambers.
Sophie and Edward have both successfully completed their pupillages with Landmark and will now focus on building practices across planning, property, environment, public, and rating and valuation law.
Sophie’s practice focuses on all aspects of land-related matters spanning property, planning and public law. During pupillage, Sophie worked on cases across Landmark’s core practice areas with particular expertise in property litigation, planning appeals, hearings and inquiries, judicial review, and public rights of access to land. Sophie is a member of the Attorney General’s “junior junior” scheme and acts for both claimants and defendants. Before joining Landmark, Sophie graduated from the University of Oxford with first-class undergraduate and postgraduate Law degrees receiving numerous academic scholarships and prizes. After graduation, Sophie worked in academia as a Research Assistant and Admissions Tutor at the University of Oxford. She undertook complex research into all areas of property law, landlord and tenant, equity and trusts, and the overlap between property law and human rights.
Edward accepts instructions across all areas of public, planning, environmental and property law. He has acted for individuals, developers, local authorities, central government and NGOs. He is a member of the editorial team for the Encyclopaedia of Housing Law and Practice. Prior to the Bar, Ed was a senior analyst at an international cybersecurity company. He worked with corporate organisations, public bodies, regulators, social media companies and NGOs. He is therefore well placed to advise in relation to cases raising information rights and data protection issues.
Commenting on the news, Head of Landmark Chambers' Pupillage Committee, Scott Lyness KC said: “We are delighted to welcome Sophie and Edward to the team. Throughout the last 12 months, they have shown exceptional talent and commitment. They will be great assets to Chambers and we look forward to supporting them as they develop their careers."
