What does the new “Bill of Rights” mean for you?

During a recent webinar,  Landmark Chambers’ specialist public law barristers considered the implications of the proposed new “Bill of Rights”. 90% of delegates responding to a live poll said that they were not in favour of replacing the Human Rights Act 1998 with a Bill of Rights.

The webinar, held on 7 February 2022, explored the implications of the proposed changes, which have this week (10 May 2022) been set out in the Queen’s Speech.

One of the implications of the proposed Bill, if enacted, will be that UK Courts will no longer be required to follow case law set out by the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.
