On 30 May 2023, the Examining Authority informed all parties that it had completed the Examination of National Highways’ application for an order granting development consent for the A66 Northern Trans-Pennine Project, which is a nationally significant infrastructure project to improve the existing A66. The Project is central to achieving the transformational economic growth envisaged by the Northern Powerhouse initiative, Transport for the North and the achievement of the Government’s Levelling-Up agenda.
The findings and conclusions arising from the Examination, together with the Examining Authority’s Recommendation will be sent to the Secretary of State for Transport by 29 August 2023.
