Overview
Members of Chambers have advised policymakers on the development of policy for residential development at national, regional, local and neighbourhood levels; this includes the NPPF (all versions), PD for residential development, the London Plan and many local plans. We are regularly instructed by parties engaged with the plan-making process from many different perspectives.
Strategic Land, new settlements and major urban extensions are all strong specialisms of members of the planning team, with all the major developers, funds and landowners numbered within our clients; we also advise and represent local planning authorities and other parties to the process.
Advising and representing clients on s.78 appeals, recovered and called-in appeals forms a major part of members’ practices and many of the country’s largest appeals feature members of chambers.
Members are at the forefront of advice and representation on specialist housing: for the retirement and care sector, PRS, student accommodation, 100% affordable housing developments.
In cities, we have a strong track record on tall residential buildings as well as residential within mixed use developments; estate regeneration and CPO for residential re-use are also prominent in our case load. Outside major urban areas, we work on residential schemes of all sizes for both promoters and local planning authorities (and objectors).
